iPhone 8 Rumors - The Touch ID
What is going on guys Apple Fox here back again with another video and this time we're gonna be talking about the iPhone 8. This is something like a continuing video to my previous iPhone 8 rumor video, back then I focused on the placement of the camera, the double camera actually, why Apple reportedly wants to switch the orientation of those cameras and so on.
But today in this video I want to talk about the touch ID. Everyone of course knows what touch ID is and that it's located on the homebutton. But guess what, the iPhone 8 will no longer have a home button. I mean the front panel will be completely made out of glass, and the screen will be almost on the entire front side.
That means no place for the home button. And because the touch ID is embedded into the home button, here comes the question where is it gonna go? Or will Apple get rid of this technology? No that's not the case, we know that it won't happen. But there needs to be some way how Apple will solve the situation.
The were some rumors or just ideas that Apple would place the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone. In my opinion it makes absolutely no sense. First of all it's definitely not comfortable to use in everyday life. Just image that you always need to find the fingerprint reader on the back side of the phone with your index finger.
Also you wouldn't be able to unlock the phone when it's laying flat on the table. You'd need to pick it up at first and then place the finger on the sensor so it can read it. It would also eliminate the number of all the possible fingers you can use, because the thumb, pinky and ring finger couldn't be used anymore, even if I’m not sure if any of you use the pinky finger to unlock your phone, but anyways now it would be even more ridiculous.
Not talking about how ugly it would look like. The ring on the back somewhere near the Apple Logo, that'd be disgusting. It just looks like some android smartphones which use this type of fingerprint reader, but it definitely doesn’t look good on the iPhone.
But fortunately, some of the Apple anylists are saying that this desing isn't happening. And they say that it's only like 1% chance that Apple will really decide to use this technology.
So where exactly is the sensor going to be located? Well there is a theory that the power button could possibly get the abilities to read fingers. Doesn’t matter if the iPhone is laying on the table or you’re just holding it in your hand, you can always easily place your finger on the power button and get inside.
Also some of the schematics that have leaked and could be real, on those pictures we can see that the power button is slightly longer and bigger than before. So this could indicate that the Touch ID may be built into this button.
That wouldn’t be a bad thing. Honestly I think it would be great but the accuracy won’t be that good. Since the button is smaller than the real home button it means that there is less space for your finger and that way it could be less secure.
So there is another speculation going aroud the internet. Some people say or predict Apple implementing a technology similar to the Panel on the latest macbook pro. In that panel, there is a dedicated place where you can put your finger and it reads it. So it’s actually a Touch ID.
And some people think that Apple will implement this into the iPhone 8. So there would be something like a control area down at the bottom, where you place your finger to get inside.
Or there is something even more interesting. So another rumor is that you can place your finger anywhere on the screen and the phone will be able to read your finger. That would be the best thing ever. Like imagine picking your phone up and you’re already inside.
So to sum it up, I need to say that Apple will for sure find a solution to this problem, meaning that the Touch ID will be there. I personally don’t think they will go for the power button option because it’s just not something what Apple would do. In my opinion it will either be the control area at the bottom of the display or the entire screen with abilities to read fingers.
Now we have reached the end of todays video. Thanks a lot for watching. Let me know which technology you would like to see the most on the next iPhone down below in the comments if you want to. Remeber to click the subscribe button in case you never want to miss anything and see you next time.
