Yuli es una mujer haitiana que vive en República Dominicana, hace más de 35 años. Su vida ha sido una lucha permanente por criar a los suyos con dignidad pese al precario estatus migratorio con el que ha vivido desde entonces. Después de todos estos años está tratando de arreglar su situación dado el Plan de regularización de extranjeros puesto en marcha por el gobierno dominicano en 2013. Pero, ¿qué es lo que nos hace realmente pertenecer a un lugar? ¿cómo se generan los vínculos con un territorio y sus gentes?

For Yuli, a Haitian woman living in the Dominican Republic for more than 35 years, it has been an ongoing struggle to raise her children with dignity as she deals with her precarious immigration status. In the midst of government regularisation, imminent deportation and personal upheaval, the questions arise: What really makes us belong to a place? How are the links between the land and its people made?

Director’s Biography
Actor and filmmaker born in Haiti in 1980. He has spent most of his life at the Dominican Republic where he graduated from “The Angel Hache Performance Laboratory” at the National School of Dramatic Arts in 2003. In 2011, he graduated from the Chair of Documentary of the International School of Cinema and Television (San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba). His body of works includes several shorts film among which highlight “Mujer!!!” (2009), selected by The 2nd Caribbean Traveling Exhibition (II Muestra Itinerante del Caribe), and “Lo que Sueñan Las Abejas” (2010), selected by the Beijing Film Schools Festival. He participated in the collective direction of “Lessons in Process” (2011) coordinated by the Canadian Filmmaker Phillip Hoffman. In 2010, he was as well one of the directors of the documentary series “To Be a Human Being.” “God willing, Yuli” is his first feature documentary film, awarded as Best Documentary at Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival, Rencontres Cinémas Martinique and Caribbean Tales International Film Festival at Toronto.

Actor y cineasta nacido en Haití en 1980, pasa la mayor parte de su vida en República Dominicana donde se gradúa del “Laboratorio de actuación Ángel Haché” de la Escuela Nacional de Arte Dramático en 2003. En 2011, egresa de la Cátedra de Realización Documental de la Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Ha realizado varios cortos entre los que destacan “Mujer!!!” (2009), elegido por la II Muestra de Cine Itinerante del Caribe, y “Lo que sueñan las abejas” (2010), seleccionado por el Festival de escuelas de cine de Beijing en 2011. Participa en la realización colectiva del documental experimental “Lessons in process” (2011) coordinada por el realizador canadiense Philip Hoffman. En 2010, es parte también de la realización de la serie documental “Ser un ser humano”. El documental “Si bondye vle, Yuli” es su ópera prima, premiado como Mejor Documental en el Festival de Trinidad y Tobago, el Rencontres Cinémas de Martinica y en el Caribbean Tales International Film Festival de Toronto.
