A while back, someone knocked over my bike in a parking lot. After insurance took care of everything, I contemplated some changes to my bike. I considered changing the color, but ultimately decided that I didn't want to get rid of the white and red. I did, however, want to give Maya a little bit of a refresh in the form of the 2012+ R1 headlight conversion.
In 2012, Yamaha updated the R1 with some more aggressive looks in the upper fairing/nose cowl. The bike stayed almost the exact same except for this change. I've always loved the styling on these years of the R1, so I started looking into how difficult it is. Turns out, everything bolts up the exact same way, making it very easy (aside from the cost) to make this change.
I finally got around to taking some shots of the bike with the update, which is what you see here. Let me know what you think of the changes!
Interested in doing this conversion? You'll need the parts listed below. The upper fairing part # is for the white version, but it's easy enough to get another color when you search for this part # on a parts site. I recommend yamahapartshouse.com
