iOS 10.2 Beta 7 + Calendar Issue
What is going on guys Apple Fox here and I've got another video for you guys. Today I will be talking about the update of the iOS 10.2. We are still receiving betas of the 10.2 so I will be talking about that but since there isn't much I could show or present to you, I'm also going to tell you something about the issue that's still present in the latest iOS, the one with calendar and also what you can do about it. It's really interesting and also kind of weird that it's still possible in such an operating system like iOS 10.
Now let’s start by looking at the actual prompt to update. Would you ever believe that we’ll see beta 7 of such a small update? Well it’s here. I really don’t know why Apple keeps doing this, but there are also some things I don’t know the reason of and Apple keeps doing. But most of the time it turns out to be great.
I’m of course not going to talk about any changes or stuff like that because there isn’t anything to show you. So I like to make these beta videos often including some cool glitches or other great things to show you and this time it’s not an exception.
As I already said there is an issue with the iOS 10 calendar. You probably know that the calendar we all have in our phones is able to do a lot more than most of us know that it can do. And one of the features is that your calendar is able to find events in your mail and put it into your actual calendar.
This feature is great, for example if you’re buying flight tickets online. After you purchase it, you of course get confirming email saying everything about it of course with the exact time and place. Your calendar finds it and it’s automatically in your calendar as an event.
But the issue I was talking about is regarded to misusing this feature by people wanting to promote their own business and that is really annoying for everyone of us. It works using an email. They send you an email that is made up in order for this to happen. So you happen to see some events like 50% discount on all tshirts for example right in your calendar and you have no idea how it happened.
If you have somewhere your email address, like on your profile on social media, there’s a big chance that someone with the intention to spam your devices calendar has already found you. They usualy have software that searches for the at sign and you can easily be the one who they found.
Of course if someone sends you an email containing this type of information and it moves automatically to spam section, then you don’t have to worry about it because the calendar doesn’t search through the spam section in your mailbox. It happens a lot that the companies want to promote theirselves and they actualy overdo it and that way your mailbox recognises it and marks the email as a spam.
So what can you do about it? Well as a first thing you have to delete the event and make sure not to click on anything because you’ll get even more spammed and your entire calendar can get really messy and this is something you definitely don’t want.
Don’t ever consider taking your email address down from any website or blog or anything because this isn’t something that you should experience and Apple already said that they’re gonna do something with it and make it more secure for all of us. But I don’t think that it’s something you have a lot of problems with, even though it’s really annoying and hopefully Apple fixes that particular issue really soon.
So we got to the end of this video, hopefully you like it and I also hope you’re not one of those people who got affected by this issue. Make sure you take a look at your calendar and maybe you find out that it’s full of useless stuff. Anyways thanks a lot for watching and see you in the next one.
